All Black... what else is new?

So I literally fell off the face of the [blogging] earth, but I'm trying to get back on. I actually do have a lot to share, but often too busy (or lazy) to do it, so please bear with me as I try to get back into making this a habitual thing. I have nothing cool to say for my outfit below, so just continue to scroll down the page. Thanks!

I made the choker, the top is vintage, the skirt is from Zara...

Handbag by Vavvoune, shoes are from Zara...again.

Adorn yourself.

Adorn was launched a few weeks ago and I forgot I never shared the whole story behind it with everyone outside of friends, family, and the beautiful influencers I reached out to. I guess it's better later than never...

The Adorn collection was designed using vintage trim from the 60s through 80s. This collection is inspired by summertime in the 70s. These chokers are limited edition since there are only 5 or less of each design. Although they’re inspired by a retro summer, these chokers can easily be worn through fall and winter—adding a pop of color to your outfit or subdued nudeness for everyday. They can be worn alone or you can stack them for a bolder look. Adorn was captured by Brooklyn-based photographer Shen Williams (@shendig27) and modeled by Valerie Blaise and Jazmin LaBrie. Bum-Cake’s Adorn collection is playfully chic with many retro colors like mustard, amber, mahogany, salmon, among others. Similar to Bum-Cake’s previous collections, these pieces are to be worn with confidence. They come in 2 sizes—small and medium/large. They are $18 each (with free shipping) and range from polyester and rayon to cotton and silk blended fabrics.

See the look book below or click here

Hope you enjoyed this and I hope you like the chokers, to shop the collection, click here.

Colour

To see the rest of the look book, visit bum-cake.com/colour

Colour is my first curated collection where I'm the model. I really wanted to show people who the "bum-cake vintage girl" truly is--she knows what she likes, has a true sense of style and appreciation for fashion, and isn't afraid to try new things...she's me...in a nutshell. The whimsical yet demure garments in this curated collection truly define the "bum-cake vintage girl." I'm constantly inspired by pop culture from previous decades, especially bohemian culture from the 60s-70s. The garments in this collection range from the 1950s-1990s and will take you from day-to-night, which is perfect for any fashionista on the go!

Styled & modeled by me (Christiana Greene)!

Hope you love as much as I do! xoxoxoxoxox

My Version of a Sweater Dress

I've seen a lot of "sweater dresses" in stores lately and in magazines and I'm not saying they aren't great, but I have a simpler version I like to wear and it's basically a men's sweater worn as a dress and paired with tights or knee high socks. It can be worn as an oversized top or as a dress, it can be inexpensive, and most importantly, it's straight to the point.

Seriously, consider wearing your dude's sweater as a dress.

It also makes me feel tougher. Not sure why, but it just does, hehe.

Oh, the coat and the sweater are for sale on Bum-Cake.com or Etsy

The coat is a grape colored tweed and the sweater is a mix of violet and navy with a honeycomb print.

Postin' up.

Sweater can be found here or etsy

Knee highs are Steve Madden
Boots & earrings are vintage

BUM-CAKE x By Breanne

The lovely Breanne Butler wearing our canary lace housecoat.

We met during fashion week and ever since I tried some of her mini meringue drops that she made for Heart & Noble's SS15 collection, I've been dying to try more of her desserts. Even better, I had the opportunity to collaborate with her on a special project and voila... this clip from "Good Day Chicago" was born! Breanne wore one of our vintage housecoats and baked a cake inspired by us on the Fox News feature "Fashion Inpsired Cakes". The show also features cakes she created based on designs by Vaunt & Sol and Pyer Moss
Breanne is a very talented New York City based pastry chef who bakes cakes inspired by fashion. She usually takes a specific design from a collection and uses it to be the focus for the cake she ends up creating. She's super talented and her cakes are absolutely delicious. I was also able to try some of her curry cake, which was another amazing dessert.

Urban Jungle Girl

Vintage from head-to-shins. Many people assume that vintage can't look classy and fashion-forward, but that's a lie. It's all about finding the right pieces and pulling them together. This outfit is just a blouse worn over a slip and paired with earrings, a necklace, and heels.

What We WOULD Have Worn...

So another year has gone by and once again, I missed Coachella. I'm lame. This time, my stylist friend Naomi also missed it. What's even twice as sad is that we also missed Art Basel AND SXSW... like WTF?! We are officially dedicating the rest of the year to making sure all 3 of these festivals are on the calendar (in person) for next year. I know... This isn't the first time you've heard this from me before... Anyway, these were our prospective outfits...

COACHELLA DREAMIN'

Oh, this is just me in a lil' cotton paradise.
You may think this is a little on the conservative side given the fact that most people were nearly naked at Coachella, BUT I get cold easily and it gets better...

And here you have it--my grandmother's vintage nightgown from like the 60's. It's my boho dream come true.

Oh, and my gran gave me this brooch too... She wore this back in the day, so I thought I'd add it to the back of the gown.

It's 100% cotton too... keepin' me cool to the core.

Do you get it now? The detail is everything. Embroidery heaven. I'm telling you, you haven't lived until you've worn your grandmother's vintage night gown... or just a gown of hers in general... or a vintage piece of clothing from any woman in your family... I guess.

This is just Naomi in a lil' printed euphoric state.
Bam! Holy Prints! She's doing Coachella the raw, colorful, carefree way... aka the RIGHT way!

Naomi would rock the original awesome Coachella look, but with cool NYC edge to it--
leopard x ikat x crochet = glorious.

In case your eyes couldn't fully comprehend the mixed awesomeness... see it up close and personal!
Oh, and not to mention the suede navy boots... you're not "Coachella certified" unless you're rockin' boots! These boots of course, were made for walkin' and other festival activities.

Hat: h&m, Shades: Cole Haan, Top: LF, Vest: boutique in Maui, Shorts: urban outfitters, Boots: Nordstrom

Do you get it now? Again, it's all about the detail. You died and went to prints heaven. I mean that's how the [crochet] crumbles.

ART BASEL DAZZLE

First of all, who says you can't wear fur to Miami? Well, they're wrong!

I would totally wear fur to Miami. I don't know, but it just seems right! I'm sure it would feel right too.

It's all about mixing prints per usual. In this case, vintage x vintage = fab.

Got the top from my friend Keith--it's JPG (Jean Paul Gaultier) in the 90s!! The 70s skirt I bought from Admirable Stylz Vintage and it's also fab.

Up close, it kind of looks like art, which is why this ensemble WOULD have been perfect for the occasion known as Art Basel. [sighs]

For the love of lace... Where have you been all my life?!

Oh, and knee-high leather Dolce Vita boots in Miami? Sure thing! Why the hell not? As a stylist, Naomi breaks and makes the rules... all the damn time.

She's cool as a cucumber in the club master style glasses, BUT still ladylike with the femme of everything else!

Reminder: You haven't lived unless you've worn a lace dress. Seriously, it gives us life.
Shades & Dress by Urban Outfitters

The gloves and the clutch is what puts the icing on this cake. Gloves are from Patricia Fields store in NYC and the clutch is H&M.

SXSW CHILLIN'

When in doubt, just wear tiger printed anything... not really, but in this case, absolutely!

In the future, when I happen to make it to SXSW, I'm not fully sure what to expect or what to wear, so I figured you can't go wrong with a chill dress and boots. Does it say "Texas"? No. Does it scream "hell yeah!!"? Yes.... Done.

 And done again.

Oh, this dress is for sale by the way... check it out HERE.

I think Naomi is definitely more SXSW ready than I would be. Her outfit says "I'm dope," but also "I'm chillin'"... and this my friend, is just the right amount of fashion x style, but effortless at the same time.

This is seriously concert chic--prints x prints x sporty kicks x sporty hat x aviators = a real G (which can never be a bad thing).

If you can bring a Cali chill style to Texas with little effort, it's a win!
Hat: 47 Brand, Shades: Armani, Shirt: Bum-Cake

This is how to achieve a SXSW look. You do it with some street style, but also grace.

In conclusion, we'll be there next year!
Stay tuned...
